“The Rotary Club of St. Thomas hosted their joint Interact and Rotaract meeting this evening. There were lots of guests and some special furry guests as well. The St. Thomas Interact club is famous for their “Pony Pooping Bingo which they run every other year. They donate the profits to the Children’s Hospital in London and have donated $20,000 over the years. In addition they give the local women’s shelter Teddy Bears and volunteer for many other community activities. Thank you for the fun games and for sharing with us all you are doing. Club News: President Nancy introduced the President of the Interact Club, Nicholas Chabot who then shared the leadership of the evening program. Interact Secretary: Nathaniel Pepper. Rotarian Ken Willmot (RCRC) presented the District cheque for $681.00 to Trudy as part-payment of the cost of dictionaries presented to Grade 3 students in St. Thomas this year. Well done Trudy, and others! Rotary Music Festival Keynotes Concert 7 th April 7pm at the Salvation Army with the presentation of awards and selected performers. Donations accepted. Rotary Leadership Institute Parts 1, 2 and 3 on Saturday 6 th May in London. This is a great opportunity to improve both your leadership skills and your knowledge of Rotary! We are advised that the $250,000,000 committed by the previous Canadian government for Polio Eradication Has been fully paid. $12m was used to match donations from Canadian Rotarians.
PDG Jack Little (2000-2001) of the RC of London passed away recently. “He graduated from Western University and began a career in education beginning as a teacher and culminating as Director of Education for what is now the Thames Valley District School Board. Jack spent countless hours volunteering his time on numerous boards of directors and was very active in Rotary.”
HAPPY FINS - Donations of $5 to The Rotary Foundation – Annual Programs Fund – credited to the donor in celebration of something good in our lives. This practice was started in this club in 1985 to raise funds for polio eradication at the suggestion of Darwen Lowe, a member of the club.
