Members of the Rotary Club of St. Thomas worked on an environmental project today at Lake Margaret. Under the guidance of the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority (KCCA) and with goggles, gloves, saws and loppers in hand, they were joined by two Interactors (Rotary youth group) and three KCCA staff. A large area was cleared of two invasive species on land at the west end of Lake Margaret. European Buckthorn and Autumn Olive trees were carefully cut down to avoid being picked by their thorns. Interactors Jayden and Isabelle Dodd along with KCCA staff Betsy McClure, Jeff Lawrence and Brandon Lawler joined 5 members of the Rotary Club of St. Thomas for the morning. City staff will remove the large brush piles later. Good to experience a lovely sunny and cool day to complete this hot and tiring work. Many thanks to all. Next Wed 12 noon MPP Rob Flack will speak to the club at the Senior Centre.
