President Barbara opened meeting with a quote from Paul Harris at the 1940 Havana club about world peace and the Rotary foundation.
Past President Gerry has returned from Florida. Visitor today was Mark Wales, who prepares the yearly summary financial statements for the Foundation.

On Monday, November 21, 7:00 pm, Shadow Training is being held at
Jackpot City. In order to volunteer you need to either attend this in person training session or do the online training at
Volunteer Training | OCGA (charitablegaming.com) The in person training will give everyone a chance to see the actual facility and become familiar with what is expected.
Barbara attended the ONCA virtual meeting and reported about the changes we could make in our club.
Member Mark Holmes spoke to local political leaders about speaking to our club.
An article about Cindy Benning is in the recent edition of the Elgin magazine. Her book has recently been published and Cindy carries copies with her.
The Chamber of Commerce is meeting for the after 5 event tonight at the Curling Club.

Left is just one of many words or expressions known as a
contronym—or
contranym—a word that has two meanings that are opposite or nearly opposite. In this example,
left means both “leave” (two people had
left) and “remain”. She gave examples of pairs of very different phrases/concepts and asked us to guess the single word reference. Eg something that secures vs to free someone can both be summarized in the word “bolt”.

Barbara then turned the meeting over to Trudy Kanellis who chaired the Foundation’s annual meeting. Mark Wales charged the club to make new plans that would broaden the scope of the Foundation’s charitable efforts, given that the Foundation has dropped projects.
