Trustee Carol Toomey was the moderator. Julia Phelps spoke about the history of Polio eradication by Rotary. Paul Harris Committee chair Michael McGovern reported that COVID-19 had impacted the progress of Polio eradication efforts, but surveillance is ongoing, and staff are participating in COVID-19 contact tracing. The campaign workers are hoping for a new vaccine in September. Africa is hoping to be declared free of Polio, and outbreaks have stopped in India. Jeffery Cadorette spoke about energizing the fundraising campaign. He agreed to jump out of an airplane if giving was increased by 5%. Giving increased by 15%, but he did not decide to jump out of a plane three times. The “Drop to Zero Campaign” has been replaced by the “Take out Polio Challenge.” Please donate your lunch money to the eradication campaign.  John Nani spoke of his experience of being paralyzed from the neck down because of Polio. AnnLee Hussey spoke of delivering vaccinations in third world countries. She spoke at a recent district conference.
