CLUB NOTES                       WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7

The Board meeting has been re-scheduled to a later date. It was agreed that many members are very busy with the Tour of Homes preparations and need the time.

Several members of the Tour committee gave brief updates on the status of preparations. All the decorators have completed their work.

We will have four christmas trees On display at CASO.

Most of the remaining jobs will be 1) delivery of materials, floor mats, shoe bags, draw ticket boxes, etc., 2) construction of temporary walkways and lighting and 3) assembly of a door frame and exit door in  the garage door opening at 8 Birchall Lane, 4) Thursday and Friday will be used for placement of direction signs.

Malcolm Rust and Ron Somerville attended the District 6330 Foundation seminar at the London BMO Sports Centre.

The seminar presenters spent some time teaching about the three main functions of the R.I. Foundation,    the methods used to place funds in each of these accounts and the ways through which all R.I. Foundation funds are dispersed. A large percentage of these R.I. funds are returned to districts for further sharing among the clubs through grants for community projects and for club-initiated projects around the world.

We had several presentations about District Grants. As noted above, some of the funds received by R.I. are returned to the Districts for use as will be determined at the district and club levels. Clubs and members within a district will follow a very specific process to apply for grants. Every project for which there is an application will be completely paid for up front by the club after the district grants committee has given approval. Grants will be transferred to the club after the project has been successfully completed and properly documented. District grants will fund 1/3 of any project, up to a maximum of $2000.00.

An example of this - if we chose to apply for a grant for one of our Friendship Benches and the total cost is $1200.00 we will pay the full amount up front and be reimbursed with a grant of $400.00.

Nancy Lovelock is our board member who is arranging for the benches at the schools. Currently the bench purchased for Locke's P.S. is in storage until the new playground is completed.

50/50 draw winner was Maggie Horn.
