Club members have enjoyed a wonderful summer and many of our vacationers have returned to the fold; President Trish welcomed 13 members and 2 visitors, Al Hardy, past District Governor and Maggie Horn, to our first Sept. meeting.
Club Assembly was held with few reports:
We were reminded that the meetings will begin promptly at 12:15, not 12:30.
Sept 12 – there will be a guest speaker
Sept 19 – Learn About Rotary at the ROTARY SHOWCASE, Knights of Columbus                                  
                  Hall, 7:00 to 8:15 pm
Club Reports:
Community Service - Jennifer reported that a donation had been made to the Y for the summer bussing of children to the Y as well as reporting about the Dutton splashpad’s progress.
Club Service – Ron reminded us of the Rotary Showcase event and distributed the post card invitations to be given out by members to encourage friends to “come and meet Rotarians and enjoy a social time together”.
Malcolm Rust agreed to look after the advertising for the Rotary Showcase.
Tour of Homes – Trish, committee chair, reported the securing a 4th house, a Doug Tarry home, at 8 Birchall Lane; committee meeting, Sept 11th at 7pm at Trish & Stew Shouldice’s home.
There were no other reports.
Fine Master – Pat Martyn – discussed the origin of the September Labor Day holiday both in Canada and U.S.
50/50 draw was won by Ron Somerville
Happy Fins: 22 in total
Maggie – 1 – happy to have her son visiting for the holiday weekend and spending time in Parry Sound visiting with Bill’s daughter Linda.
Bill – 5 – visiting with daughter Linda and grandson; his son and daughter’s birthdays and a pontoon plane ride in the Muskokas
Stew – 2 – a wonderful summer of family, camping, and sailing and grateful the club “just kept rollin’ along” without him.
Gerard – 1- a great holiday weekend in the Finger Lakes
Malcolm -- 1- his son, Martin, was keynote speaker for the State Department at a conference in Tunis.
Ron – 3 - 50/50 winner; their poodle is feeling much better; attended a party in Pt Stanley at their son’s place along the harbor to celebrate the holiday
Gerald – 1 – for his new slip on shoes (no laces, no bending down)
Jennifer – 2 – for the end of a “washout” August and the coming of September and her son, Mason’s return to school
Trish – 2 – to thank all who filled in for her during her absence and for her birthday.
Barb – 2- for the entire family being together at their “hunt camp” near North Bay and her daughter, Ashley’s home.
Mary – 1 – a relaxing holiday on Manitoulin Island
Pat -1- a family reunion in St. Catherines over Labor Day weekend
The meeting was adjourned and followed by the Board meeting.
